چکیده

The trend in ADCs and DACs is toward higher speeds and higher resolutions at reduced power levels. Modern data converters generally operate on ±5V (dual supply) or +5V (single supply). In fact, many new converters operate on a single +3V supply. This trend has created a number of design and applications problems which were much less important in earlier data converters, where ±15V supplies and ±10V input ranges were the standard.

Section 8.1: Precision Measurement and Sensor Conditioning

Introduction The high resolution Σ-∆ measurement ADC has revolutionized the entire area of precision sensor signal conditioning and data acquisition. Modern Σ-∆ ADCs offer no-missing code resolutions to 24 bits, and greater than 19-bits of noise-free code resolution. The inclusion of on-chip PGAs coupled with the high resolution virtually eliminates the need for signal conditioning circuitry—th...

Using Orthogonal Sequences in "blind" Calibration of an Array of Analog-to-digitalconverters

Fig. 1 N-path Time-interleaved ADC • In this paper, we propose a new calibration scheme suitable forimproving the fidelity of data-conversion in an array of ADCs, which is otherwise degraded largely due to mismatches in the non-ideaI behaviours among the individuaI ADCs in the array. This work will focus on correcting the ill-effects suffered by the array of ADCs due to mismatches in gain and o...

Understanding flash ADCs - AN810

Flash analog-to-digital converters, also known as parallel ADCs, are the fastest way to convert an analog signal to a digital signal. Flash ADCs are ideal for applications requiring very large bandwidth, but they consume more power than other ADC architectures and are generally limited to 8-bit resolution. This tutorial will discuss flash converters and compare them with other converter types. ...

Understanding SAR ADCs - AN1080

Successive-approximation-register (SAR) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are frequently the architecture of choice for medium-to-high-resolution applications with sample rates under 5 megasamples per second (Msps). SAR ADCs most commonly range in resolution from 8 to 16 bits and provide low power consumption as well as a small form factor. This combination makes them ideal for a wide variety...

Low-Voltage Analog-to-Digital Converters and Mixed-Signal Interfaces

Analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are crucial blocks which form the interface between the physical world and the digital domain. ADCs are indispensable in numerous applications such as wireless sensor networks (WSNs), wireless/wireline communication receivers and data acquisition systems. To achieve long-term, autonomous operation for WSNs, the nodes are powered by harvesting energy from ambi...
